Media Voices are delighted to announce that tickets are now live for the inaugural Publisher Podcast Summit. The conference – the only one of its kind dedicated to publisher podcasts – will be held in London on Wednesday 5th October 2022. It follows a successful third year of the Publisher Podcast Awards in April.

There’s never been a better time to have a podcast. This is an industry on the cusp of an explosion: 45% of podcast listeners started listening within the past year, with more than a third listening every day. Ad spend in the UK on podcasts next year is forecast to hit £65 million.

The Summit will help publishers of all shapes and sizes take advantage of these opportunities, whether they have a full stable of podcasts or are yet to launch their first. Following feedback from our growing Publisher Podcast community, the day will focus on four key themes:

  • Editorial: What themes and topics work well for publisher podcasts, and how can a publisher tie podcasts into other editorial work;
  • Marketing: How can publishers effectively publicise podcasts after launch, and what strategies work best for growing listenership;
  • Sound & production: What equipment works best on a budget for podcasting, how can music and sound effects enhance podcasts;
  • Monetisation: How can podcasting be made into a sustainable revenue stream, how can podcasts be packaged for sales departments.

The day will bring together people involved in every stage of creating a podcast, from senior decision-makers to editorial, production and sales staff. As well as ample opportunities for networking and sharing best practice, the Summit will also feature a series of special Roundtables; themed discussion tables with a short presentation from an expert moderator, followed by an in-depth Q&A. There will be two levels; a starter collection for those who are in the early stages of their podcasting journey, and an advanced set for publishers who are looking to take their podcast strategy to the next level.

“We’re working really hard to create a day that will really benefit people working on podcasts in publishing companies,” co-founder Esther Kezia Thorpe said. “Because podcasting is still such a new area for many publishers, it can be isolating, with little opportunity to share with others what is working, and what isn’t.”

“We see so many brilliant examples of innovation every year with the Publisher Podcast Awards. We’re now excited to share the learnings from some of the world’s leading publisher podcasts to help everyone up their podcasting game.”

“Seeing the publishing community come together at our last podcast awards really cemented our commitment to get this summit off the ground,” said co-founder Peter Houston. “So many publishers are still at the very beginning of their podcasting journey and learning from people that have been where you are is absolutely invaluable.
